Fish Farming in Recirculating Aquaculture Systems

3.16.11
This article is of particular interest to Biosphere Farms as it relates to our own interest in an effective closed loop system for fish farming as a component in the photobioreactor that is the foundation of Biosphere Farms. The challenge will be to plug in the photobioreactors for algae production. This is where the efficiency of combining the two different productions could result in both feeding the algae and cleaning the water for the fish. The main question for us at the moment is how the algae reacts to fish waste (toxic ammonia compounds) excreted into the water and uneaten fish feed particles.
